On April 12, 2022, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force commissioned its newest unit, ABDF AIRWING, featuring the Islander BN-2A ALPHA aircraft. This addition expands the Force's capabilities with two vital departments: Flight Operations and Maintenance. The Islander BN-2A, a 9-seat aircraft, facilitates aerial support for Disaster/Emergency Response, Search and Rescue, Medevac, and Maritime Space Surveillance throughout the Tri-Island state.
Notably, on September 15, 2023, the Airwing Unit acquired two additional aircraft, Piper Navajos Alpha 2 (serviceable) and Alpha 3 (unserviceable), demonstrating a commitment to bolstering capabilities.
The ABDF Airwing operates under the motto "Sparing Nothing Giving ALL," emphasizing its dedication to providing comprehensive security and support services to the nation.
